Banning Imidacloprid

France and Switzerland, are following a precautionary principle in which they are banning products that include Imidacloprid from shelves in stores. They are banning this product because bee keepers feel Imidacloprid is the reason the bees are dying in large numbers. We need these bees in order to have specific crops and thus help our economy. Belgium, Switzerland, and Spain have all called a ban on Imidacloprid. According to Etienne Bruneau, the director of the Belgian center for agriculture information, in ten years there will be no more bees in Belgium. The European Union plans to publish a list of pesticides to be banned next year.
